February to end on a snowy note for Western Himalayas, rain, snow and hailstorm likely

Rain and snow have been lashing the northern parts of the country at intervals as Western Disturbances have been constantly paying the hills of North India a visit. The month of February has been a good one in terms of these winter systems which have been more frequent.

Now also, a Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining areas. The system will start affecting the hills of North India today and will continue until February 25 due to .

Rain and snow will be more today and tomorrow, reducing a little on February 24 and significantly reducing on February 25 and 26. The peak intensity will be today and tomorrow. February 26 will see isolated activity with weather finding clearance on February 27.

Parts of Jammu and Kashmir including Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Poonch, Kupwara will see more weather activity. The severity of these activities will be the highest over Jammu and Kashmir, followed by Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and the least over Uttarakhand.

Hailstorm activities are expected over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Along with this, landslides and mudslides may be seen over the higher reaches resulting in traffic blockages for shorter durations, heavy snowfall may cause some disruption today and tomorrow as well.
