June 16, 2016 4:55 PM |

Inside- Maharashtra

The cyclonic circulation that is expected to develop over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal will start affecting coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by the morning of June 18.

Thereafter by the afternoon of June 19 good rain activity will commence over Marathwada, Vidarbha, and most parts of Madhya Maharashtra. This rain activity will continue over these areas till June 21. Then this rain belt is expected to shift towards west and Konkan & Goa giving good rains over the region including Mumbai and Pune. This rainfall activity will continue to give good rains till about June 22-23.

As of now Maharashtra is running deficient in terms of rainfall for the month of June. We expect that, this prolonged spell of good rains will nullify the deficit to a great extent and it will help in recharging the reservoirs which are at almost dry state.

Although the monthly average of Mumbai is 523.1 mm whereas till now the monthly rainfall recorded for the month of June is just a mere 43.2mm. The commencement of monsoon is also expected by this time. It is marked that by June 19-20 onset of Monsoon is expect over Mumbai and Pune.
