Updated on November 20, 2005: In last 48 hours good rain has happened over the state and will continue for another 48 hours as the low-pressure area over southeast Arabian Sea is expected to intensify into a well-marked low area and due to its effect, West Coast of the country will receive good rain for next 48 hours.

Updated on November 19, 2005: While Northeast Monsoon remained vigorous over Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai, in past few days, it is slated to get active over Kerala in next 24 hours.

A trough from the cyclonic circulation present over coastal Andhra Pradesh and west central Bay of Bengal is extending up to the weather system developing in the Arabian Sea. This trough has given moderate rain in last 24 hours over coastal parts of Kerala including Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.

A cyclonic circulation has developed over Lakshadweep area and southeast Arabian Sea. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is expected to form by 20th November. Already a trough is extending from southeast Arabian Sea to west central Bay of Bengal. Due to the combined effect of these systems, moderate to heavy rain is likely over Kerala and adjoining coastal Andhra Pradesh with heavy to very heavy rain at some places. These rain activities will be active for another 24 hours. Thereafter, the intensity will decrease but scattered light to moderate rain will continue.

As the low pressure area intensifies, it will gradually move in northwesterly direction, away from West Coast leading to decrease in rain activity. Due to this the rain belt will remain active over Konkan & Goa and Karnataka coast.
