Good rains in store for Maharashtra, Madhya Maharashtra misses out

July 7, 2016 4:45 PM |

Inside - Maharashtra - July 7

At present all parts of Maharashtra have either excess rainfall or normal rainfall. Konkan & Goa is 34% rainfall excess; Marathwada and Vidarbha also have surplus rain of 12% and 17% respectively. It is Madhya Maharashtra, the only region in Maharashtra which is 4% below the normal rainfall as on July 6.

Now, we expect that moderate to heavy rain will occur over Vidarbha and parts of Marathwada till July 11. However, the subdued rainfall activity that is going over Konkan & Goa since last 2-3 days will pick up pace.

Fairly widespread and heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places is expected to commence from July 9 onwards. This heavy rain can be attributed to the strengthening of off-shore trough running from South Gujarat to Kerala.

But Madhya Maharashtra will continue with subdued rainfall activities. However, scattered light rain is expected over Madhya Maharashtra for next 48 hours.

Madhya Maharashtra will remain least active in terms of rainfall when compared with rest of Maharashtra. So we can say that all the other areas will be rain surplus whereas Madhya Maharashtra may see deficient rainfall.
