The West Coast of the country has had a good run with the Southwest Monsoon so far. In fact, both during the month of June as well as July several heavy spells of rainfall activity has been recorded over many areas.

Konkan and Coastal Karnataka in particular have been constant receivers of heavy Monsoon showers. Rainfall activity also has picked up pace in Kerala in between.

While rainfall activity had taken a backseat over the entire West Coast due to the weakening of the off shore trough, Monsoon activity has once again made a comeback over this region.

Take a look at the live lightning and thunderstorm status along the West Coast

During the last 24 hours form 8:30 am on Saturday, Mahabaleshwar recorded a whopping 83 mm of rain, Mumbai witnessed 73 mm, Karwar 63 mm, Thane 54 mm, Mangalore 53 mm, Panjim 40 mm, Vengurla 32 mm, Kannur 25 mm, Kochi 12 mm and Honavar 32 mm.

These weather conditions have been attributed to the presence of the active Offshore trough running from South Gujarat up to Lakshadweep region.

Thus, moderate to heavy rain in spells will continue over the entire West Coast during the next 24 hours as well. The possibility of isolated very heavy spells also cannot be ruled out over the region.
