Hat Trick Of Single Digit Temperature At Pune-Nashik, Early Relief Likely

January 11, 2023 2:03 PM |

Twin cities of Pune and Nashik mostly observe moderate temperature during winter months.  Pleasantly cold morning and cosily warmed afternoon become the hallmark for the two major cities of Madhya Maharashtra. Both, keep a safe distance from the western disturbance, causing vagaries of weather over northern plains, around this period.
Both the cities have recorded single digit minimum temperature for the 3rd consecutive day.  Nashik measured 9deg, 7.6deg, 8.7deg and Pune registered 8.1deg, 7.4deg, 8.6deg respectively on 11th , 10th and 09th Jan2023.  Maximum temperature hovered close to the normal of 30deg at both the places. Minimum temperatures slog at 3-4deg below the normal, funneling cold winds during late night and early morning hours.

Northern plains have been shivering under extreme cold conditions for the last one week.  Western disturbance is now patrolling the mountains and likely to stay till 13th Jan. Induced cyclonic circulation over parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi will trigger cloudy sky and frail chances of light rain and showers, across the region on 12th &13th Jan. The dual system has displaced the seasonal anticyclone, far to the south of its normal position.

Cold winds have intruded over parts of  North Madhya Maharashtra, chilling locations like Pune, Nashik, Jalgaon, Nandurbar and Ahmednagar.
Under the influence of shifted anticyclone, leeside of Konkan covering North Madhya Maharashtra is swept by dry and cold land winds. Reversal of pattern is expected after the passage of western disturbance. Mercury levels are likely to resume normal limits, anytime on 14th Jan and later.
