While the beginning of the month of June was not that great for the city of Mumbai, the second half turned out to be much better, especially after the onset of the southwest monsoon over the region. The city has been seeing moderate to heavy rains for the past 3 to 4 days and a similar situation is expected to continue even in the coming days.
Talking about today, Mumbai recorded 74 mm of rain in just about six hours between 8:30 AM and 2:30 PM today. Rainfall activity is all set to cross three digits in less than 24 hours for Mumbai. Moreover, heavy to very heavy rains will continue over Mumbai.
For the next 3 to 4 days, we can expect a similar situation in Mumbai wherein heavy rainfall will become a regular feature. Moreover, waterlogging, traffic chaos, flight delays may also be accompanied with the heavy rains.
Regarding the monthly normal, it looks like Mumbai may reach its monthly target before the end of the month, which initially looked like a very daunting task.
