Heavy rain spell to cover many parts of Uttar Pradesh

September 9, 2023 1:26 PM |

Uttar Pradesh has witnessed mixed monsoon rains until now. Western districts of the state witnessed occasional good showers. However, rain activities over eastern parts remained isolated. Between June 1 and September 8, West Uttar Pradesh recorded 573.9 mm of rain against the normal of 597.1 mm a deficiency of just 4%. On the other hand, east Uttar Pradesh is rain deficient by 30%. East Uttar Pradesh has recorded just 479.2 mm of rain against the normal of 683.2 mm.

Southwest Uttar Pradesh recorded a few good spells of rain during the last 24 hours. Jhansi recorded a three-digit rainfall of 109 mm. Almost every district of Uttar Pradesh recorded light or moderate rain during the last 24 hours.

Now, the cyclonic circulation which is over central parts of Madhya Pradesh will gradually move north towards Uttar Pradesh. Rain activities are expected to increase significantly over many parts of Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 to 48 hours. There may be some reduction in rain on September 12 and 13.

We expect another cyclonic circulation to move over Uttar Pradesh via Madhya Pradesh around September 14. Therefore, rain activities will increase once again over many parts of the state. The second and third weeks of September may turn out to be very good for the state and ongoing rain deficiency to improve in the coming days.
