A cyclonic circulation is marked over the northwest Bay of Bengal extending up to the middle layers of the atmosphere. Under its influence, a low pressure is likely to form over the same region, off the Odisha coast in the next 24 hours. Low pressure will move inland, the next day, and travel across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra during the week. To start with, heavy rains are likely over Odisha and Chhattisgarh. North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and North Telangana also will fall in the active southwest sector of the monsoon system. These parts are likely to have moderate to heavy rainfall, more so, on 12th & 13thSeptember.
Cyclonic circulation and low-pressure area, both, have shear zones extending deep inland. The forward section of the system has a convergence zone, a meeting area of northwesterly winds from the north and easterly winds driven by broad circulation, stretching across interiors of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Spread of intense weather will move slowly from east to west, spanning across central parts of the country.
Coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh and the contiguous region of Telangana will get scattered moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers on the 12th and 13th September. Locations like Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Vizag, Anakapalli, Kakinada, East Godavari, Adilabad, Mulugu, Khammam, Karimnagar, Ramagundam and Mancherial will have the risk of having lightening storm and heavy showers.
States of Odisha and Chhattisgarh will witness prolonged spells of intense weather activity between the 12th and 16th of September. During this period, the hazardous weather will extend further to the states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, as well. In addition to the heavy rainfall, the states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh will be vulnerable to lightning strikes and strong gale winds. Inclement weather conditions will find improvement on 18th and 19th September, for these parts.
