Low pressure area over the northeastern parts has shifted to north Bangladesh and Meghalaya. Weather system will move further northeast and cause heavy rain and thundershowers over Meghalaya, Assam and Nagaland. Other parts of northeast India will have moderate showers, today and tomorrow. Better weather conditions are likely from 09th October onward.
Very heavy rains are likely today over eastern half of Meghalaya, central & southeastern parts of Assam and Nagaland. East & West Khasi Hills, East & West Jaintia Hills and locations like Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi, Shillong, Barapani, Cherrapunji, Pongtung and Mawsynram will be at risk of receiving heavy downpour in the late evening and night hours. Intensity and spread of heavy weather will reduce after 24hours. Improved weather conditions can be expected on 08thOctober and still better, the next day on 09thOct.
Light weather activity will continue over the northeastern parts during the next week, as well. Monsoon retreats from northeast India in the last phase of withdrawal from the country. Invariably, it coincides with the southern parts of the country during second half of October. Pleasant weather conditions prevail over the entire region during 2nd half of October and November.
