The Oxford of the East, Pune is known for its pleasant weather all around the year. But, at present, it does not seem to be pleasant at all as the temperatures are reaching almost 40°C.

According to Skymet Weather, Pune has been witnessing dry weather conditions from the past one month. This prolonged spell of rain has led to increase in day maximums, which has been settling well above the normal average for the several days now.

May is the hottest month for Pune, as rains are far and few during this time. However, the average rainfall for the month of May stands at 40.6 mm but the city has has not received any rainfall so far.

Now, the weather conditions are now favourable for the scattered rain and thundershowers on May 6-7.

A trough is expected to form over Madhya Maharashtra around this time, due to which moisture feed will increase over the area leading to cloud formation, giving thundershower activities.

These will be the first pre-Monsoon activities of the season over the city. The pre-monsoon activities will be for a short duration and will cover small areas of the city.

But these activities will occur over many parts of the city leading to relief from the hot and dry weather conditions prevailing over Pune.
