Jammu rains

Jammu has recorded whopping 71.4 mm of rain during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday. This is the third time in the last 10 years that the city has recorded such good amount of rain.

So far, the city has recorded 117 mm showers and with this, the city has surpassed its monthly average rainfall of 88.4 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, the foothills of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have received moderate rains and thundershower activities. These rains were on account of a cyclonic circulation marked over Punjab and adjoining areas and a trough running from this system along the foothills of Western Himalayas.

Nahan in Himachal Pradesh has recorded 49 mm of rain, while Dharamsala witnessed 21 mm. While, Dehradun in Uttarakhand recorded 13 mm of rain.

Subsequently, the Southwest Monsoon has also made a soft onset over all the three hilly states of North India including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on June 21.

Hence, it seems that rainfall activity has picked up pace, enhancing to pleasing weather conditions over the city. We expect, scattered Monsoon rainfall activity likely to continue for next 3-4 days.
