Its been six years to 2013 Kedarnath floods and then the Chorabari lake also known as Gandhi Sarovar had almost disappeared after the devastating flash floods and the area had begun appearing as flat land.
The doctors who are delivering healthcare services at Kedarnath town are claiming that this lake has been again filled up with water. They have informed the district administration and they have further alerted the Doon based Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology.
Dr Pradeep Bhardwaj, CEO and medical director of Six Sigma Star Healthcare, said that he along with a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police and district administration visited Chorbari lake recently around June 16. They founded the lake flooded with water.
Scientists who studied the lake in 2013 after the disaster said that the lake would never revive again because it was totally wiped out in the floods.
The geological scientists believe that it could be some other glacier lake and they will be able to comment once they visit the spot.
At that time, the bursting of the Chorabari lake was considered the main cause of the mass destruction in Kedarnath in the June 2013 disaster. As the floods hit the Mandakini valley, the lake water mixed with debris and boulders had caused widespread destruction in the temple town.
