Kerala to see good rains, deficiency likely to get arrested for some time

August 29, 2023 2:44 PM |

The state of Kerala has seen a large deficit this monsoon season with the deficiency being over 45%. Moreover, in the last few days, the region has hardly seen any rain. Usually, Kerala sees heavy rains during the Monsoon season with the daily rainfall for the state being around 10-11 mm.

Yesterday there were some showers over the state. Now, more showers are expected over Kerala for the next few days, which is a much-needed rainy spell for the state. These rains will be more over the southern parts as compared to the northern half.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to a trough extending from the South interior Karnataka region to Comorin. Also, a feeble Cyclonic Circulation is off the coast of Kerala over Lakshadweep and adjoining areas. Both these features are not very well marked but may give some rains. In fact, we can expect moderate showers with some heavy rainfall.

While these rainfall activities may not be able to bring in a significant reduction in the deficiency that persists in the state, they still will be able to arrest the figures and not let them mount further.
