Lakshadweep battered with heavy rainfall more in offing 1

What is probably the worst thing that can ruin a perfect beach holiday? Rainfall may not on most of our list but weather can make or break your holiday. And the people vacationing in the beautiful islands of Lakshadweep are probably not enjoying the perfect beach weather due to persisting rainfall.

Since past many days, the islands of Lakshadweep are witnessing hefty amounts of rainfall. The three observatory in the islands recorded heavy rainfall which are a testament to the heavy rainfall over the region.

In the span of 24 hours from 08:30am on Wednesday, Agatti witnessed 17.4 mm of rainfall, Amini Divi recorded heavy rainfall of 98.5 mm and Minicoy witnessed 27.4 mm of rains.

This rainfall over the region can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation over north interior Karnataka and a trough from this system is extending up to the Lakshadweep islands. Also, an easterly wave trough which is below the Maldives is helping the rainfall over the region.

As per meteorologists at Skymet Weather, such weather conditions are likely to continue over the islands of Lakshadweep for the next 48 hours. Thereafter, the weather is expected to go dry and with summer season ready to lash with unrelenting heat, rise in temperature is expected.
