September 17, 2023 3:41 PM |

Rain deluge continued over many parts of southwest Madhya Pradesh as heavy rains were seen over southern parts of Madhya Pradesh on September 15. Rains are continuing over southwest districts of Madhya Pradesh even now. The well-marked low-pressure area that is responsible for this heavy downpour is now moving over southeast Rajasthan and North Gujarat.

However, its impact is expected to continue over Southwest Madhya Pradesh until the evening of September 17. Dhar recorded 301 mm of rain during the last 24 hours. Ratlam recorded 242 mm, Khandwa 162, Indore 145, Khargone 110, and Ujjain recorded 69 mm of rain.

The average rainfall of September in most of the districts has been surpassed in a single day. Widespread water logging and flooding have been reported in many cities of Madhya Pradesh. This heavy rainfall will certainly impact the harvesting of kharif crops. On the other hand, the water level in reservoirs will be restored and an increase in soil moisture will certainly help the upcoming Rabi crops.

Rain activities are expected to decrease significantly after 24 hours over Madhya Pradesh. As the well-marked low-pressure area will move over Rajasthan and Gujarat, moderate rainfall is expected over Madhya Pradesh from September 21st. Until then monsoon will remain weak over the state.
