June 12, 2015 1:25 PM |

mumbaiThe eager wait for the arrival of the Monsoon is finally over in Mumbai as Monsoon showers have hit the city of dreams. The first steady downpour after on and off unseasonal showers earlier this week ushered in the good news for the residents of Mumbai.

Nudging the official date of arrival in Mumbai – June 10th, Monsoon has decided to drench the Maximum city with rain. According to Skymet Meteorology Division, a fresh surge along the West Coast of India gave moderate to heavy rain over coastal Maharashtra and coastal Karnataka in last 24 hours. For instance, Mumbai in a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Thursday received 82 mm of rain, indicating that Monsoon in the city is around the corner.

Rains hit several parts of Mumbai like Kandivali, Jogeshwari, Khar in western suburbs and Thane, Mulund and Ghatkopar in eastern suburbs late on Thursday night. Colaba recorded 24 mm of rain and Santacruz 82 mm.

Due to overnight rain, temperatures too took a dip as they settled at 23°C from 27.6°C recorded on 10th June.
