Monsoon rains drench Hyderabad, Adilabad; more showers in Telangana today

Monsoon rains became a game changer for the southern state of Telangana that was experiencing consistent dry and hot weather from almost a month. However, with the onset of Monsoon over Telangana, the dry spell took a backseat and the state has been witnessing good rains.

During the last 24 hours, rains to the tune of light to moderate with isolated heavy spells had lashed parts of the state.  As of now, these rains are expected to continue over parts of Telangana for the next 24 hours as well. Hyderabad may also see some moderate spells during the weekend.

Within a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Adilabad recorded 33 mm of rains, Medak 12 mm, Nizamabad 7 mm, and Bhadrachalam 6 mm, while the capital of the state Hyderabad managed 3 mm of rains only.

The city of Nizams has already surpassed its monthly average rainfall of 111.2 mm, as till June 14, the state capital has clocked rains to the tune of 132 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from the central parts of the country up to coastal Andhra Pradesh across Telangana. Moreover, an active Monsoon surge is also over Telangana. In the wake of these weather systems, many districts of Telangana received moderate to heavy spells.

Further, these rains are likely to continue over Telangana for the next 24 hours. The rain intensity is in fact expected to pace up and the youngest state of the country can even witness some moderate to heavy spells. As of June 15, Telangana was 94% rain surplus.

These rains will also result in plummeting of the temperatures as well, making the weather pleasant.
