Monsoon to gain strength over Uttar Pradesh

July 15, 2016 5:26 PM |

Inside UP

Since the beginning of Monsoon, fairly widespread rains have not occurred over the state of Uttar Pradesh. But in the recent past few good showers were observed over West Uttar Pradesh and along the foothills of Uttar Pradesh.

The current rain figures indicate that East Uttar Pradesh is rain deficient by 10% till July 14 whereas, West Uttar Pradesh is just 1% rain surplus.

Now the axis of Monsoon trough is running via central Uttar Pradesh passing through Lucknow. It will gradually shift towards the foothills of Himalayas and we expect that moderate rain at many places with heavy spells at few places will continue over many parts of the state till July 17.

And the intensity may increase on July 16 & 17 over many parts of Uttar Pradesh. These heavy rains are expected over Nepal as well. Therefore the chances of flooding are very high over the districts adjacent to foothills, such as Lakhimpur, Bahraich, Rampur, Kheri, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Gonda, Kushinagar and Sant Kabir Nagar.
