Monsoon to stay weak in Odisha; Good rains in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal

At present, both Odisha as well as West Bengal are rain deficient by 25% and 17%, respectively.

Despite of good showers over coastal parts of Odisha and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, the dwindled rains in interior parts of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal have upheld the rain deficiency.

Even now, weatherman does not foresee any significant rainfall over Odisha, as the east-west which is passing through Odisha, is most likely to shift towards Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. In consequence to this, rains will further lessen over Odisha, nevertheless isolated rains cannot be ruled out. In fact, for the moment, Monsoon is anticipated to remain weak over the state for at least the next 3 to 4 days.

Meanwhile, rains over Gangetic West Bengal are set to ease off, but then moderate to heavy showers may occur over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal for the upcoming 2 to 3 days. Subsequently; it is foreseen that rains will pick up pace and good showers may occur over Gangetic West Bengal as well.

Hence, by the end of first week of July, the rain deficiency of West Bengal would reduce considerably, but Odisha will remain rain deficit.

The city of Joy Kolkata is expected to see isolated rains of reduce intensity during the next three days and subsequently the showers will intensify around July 2-3.
