More rains expected in Maharashtra

November 26, 2015 1:53 PM |

Nashik RainsScattered light to moderate rain was observed over Madhya Maharashtra and parts of Vidarbha between November 21 and November 23. This was due to mixing of two air masses, dry northeasterly winds with moist southeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal. After November 23 the weather in Maharashtra became dry and is likely to remain so for another 48 hours.

Rain Expected Soon

By the evening or night of November 28 there will again be mixing of winds. The southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea and southeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal will act in tandem to give rain over the region till November 29.

The two moisture laden winds will enhance the cloud formation and rainfall activity over parts of North Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha. Places like Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule and Aurangabad are expected to receive rain during this period (Nov 28 to Nov 29).

From November 30 to December 2 scattered rainfall activity will commence over south Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan and Goa. During this period light rain will be observed over places like Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur.

These rains will however be helpful in improving the soil moisture, considered good for Rabi crops in the region.

The state capital Mumbai is expected to remain dry with partly cloudy sky.
