Maharashtra rains

Since the beginning of March, rains have been making on and off appearances over Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.

This trend is still continuing as the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh and some parts in Vidarbha experienced scattered light rains yesterday.

Data- wise, Satna has received 0.5 mm of rainfall, while traces of rains have been recorded over Sagar during the last 24 hours.

According to Skymet Weather, the major reason for these rains can be attributed to the Confluence Zone, that has developed from eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh up to Gangetic West Bengal. In addition to this system, a Trough is also extending from East Madhya Pradesh up to Marathwada across Vidarbha region.

As these systems are expected to persist for some more time, we expect more scattered rains over East Madhya Pradesh, while some moderate showers over Vidarbha during the next 24 hours.

Rain and thundershower with strong winds (30-50 kmph) at some places, associated with hailstorm at isolated places will occur over Anuppur, Ashoknagar,  Chhatarpur, Damoh, Dindori, Hoshangabad, Jabalpur, Katni, Mandla, Narsimhapur, Panna, Raisen, Rewa, Sagar, Satna, Seoni, Shahdol, Sidhi, Singrauli, Tikamgarh, Umaria and Vidhisa districts of Madhaya Pradesh during next 24 hours.

Moreover, in wake of these activities, temperatures are expected to drop by 2℃ to 3℃ over both the regions.

March 18 onward, as the weather systems will move away eastwards, we expect weather to gradually start clearing up and to become completely dry on March 19.

Out of the four meteorological divisions of Maharashtra such as Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Konkan & Goa, Vidarbha is the only lucky region to receive rains in the month of March.
