More rains for Parangipettai, Pamban, Tuticorin

As predicted by Skymet Weather, most parts of Tamil Nadu recorded scattered light to moderate rains. Though the intensity of these rains was more over the southern districts of the state. On the contrary, the north-coastal and interior stations of the state recorded comparatively lesser rains.

In the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am as on Thursday, Parangipettai recorded 16 mm of rains, Adirampattinam 15 mm, Karaikal 12 mm, Kodaikanal 8 mm, Thanjavur 5 mm and Tondi recorded 3 mm of rains. The capital city, Chennai, on the other hand, witnessed very light traces of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, at present, strong winds from the northeast are blowing over the coastal districts of the state. Moreover, a trough is also persisting from the southeast Bay of Bengal to southwest Bay of Bengal.

Thus, in the wake of this, scattered rains are expected to continue over the coastal and southern districts of the state, including Chennai for the day. The districts such as Pamban, Tuticorin, Adirampattinam, Karaikal may witness rains for the next 24 hours. Thereafter, the weather will become dry.

Henceforth, the Northeast Monsoon is likely to remain weak for at least the next few days and another spell of rains is not anticipated to occur in the state until at least December 26 and 27. However, during that time also, fairly widespread rains are not expected and only light rains with one or two moderate spells are possible over the southern parts of the state.
