Mumbai rains to cross 2000 mm mark this season anytime now, more showers expected

The second half of July for the city of Mumbai has been rainier as compared to the rest of the Monsoon season that has already gone by. Three digit rainfall activity has also been witnessed over the commercial capital.

Rains have been moderate yesterday at least over the city but suburbs did see some heavy showers. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am yesterday, Santa Cruz observatory has only recorded 24 mm of rains.

Today, moderate to heavy rains have been making an appearance over the city with Santa Cruz observing 24 mm of rains between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm today. Showers have remained heavier over the Dombivili and adjoining suburbs of Mumbai with waterlogging in parts.

So far the city of Mumbai has recorded 1971.3 mm of rains. Thus, we need merely 29 mm of rains for the rainfall to reach 2000 mm for this season. Mumbai is already excess by 890 mm. Mumbai rains are nearly catering for the rest of the two months as well.

Now, as per weathermen, Mumbai is expected to see the continuity of rains in the next 24 to 48 hours, all thanks to a low pressure area which is expected to form over North Bay anytime soon and will activate the Monsoon surge.
