Mumbai roasts with temperature touching 36 degree Celsius

Mumbai is famous for many things, be it Bollywood or being the financial capital of the country or having one of best Police forces. But one thing that the city is infamous for is the hot and sultry weather during summers.

But, the latest temperatures recorded over the Maximum City are way beyond the normal figures. Today at 01:30 PM, the city recorded the maximum temperature of 36°C. This is almost 6°C above normal.

So, needless to say that the weather over Mumbai is very hot. Yesterday’s maximum temperatures were 3°C above normal with mercury floating at 33.7°C. But the misery doesn’t end here as the mercury is expected to go even higher.

In next 2-3 day temperatures are expected to touch 38°C. If the mercury touches such figures than it is very much advisable for Mumbaikars to drink a lot of fluids and possibly stay indoors. Such rise in temperature is very harmful for any coastal city.

This sudden rise in temperatures can be credited to blow of hot and humid easterly-southeasterly winds. These winds have increased the temperatures to such soaring levels. This hot weather is very much likely to prevail over the region till February 21-22. So a week full of hot weather and miserable temperatures starts today.

These winds will change direction and start blowing from Northeast direction. During this time of the year, these northeastern winds are cooler in nature, so they may bring some relief over the city. In the next 2 months, these northeastern winds will go hot and make sure that Mumbai remains hot during summers.

So for the people of Mumbai, a hot Valentine’s Day is likely to prevail.
