Rainfall activity during the month of August so far for Mumbai has been extremely poor. In fact, it has been the first time this month that the city of Mumbai recorded double-digit rain, which was during the last 24 hours from 8:30 AM on Monday at 25 mm.
Moreover, the jinx of the single digit rains was finally broken due to the recent spell of rains. These showers have been attributed to the low pressure area's circulation that had come to Madhya Pradesh, resulting in westerlies blowing over the Mumbai and adjoining coastal region.
Now, rains are expected to be light once again as the Monsoon trough has shifted close to the foothills and no other system persists. For the next 2-3 days, we expect only light rains over Mumbai. Overall, Mumbai will remain far short of normal for the month of August.
