For the past few days, typical Mumbai rains of three digit have been missing and in the month of July it is only on the first day that the commercial capital of India recorded three digit rainfall. After more than a fortnight, Mumbai has once again recorded 120 mm of rains, Colaba saw 108 mm of rain.

Rainfall activity is expected to remain on the higher side. Today and tomorrow, rains will increase even further with the peak intensity being tomorrow. Moreover, three digit rains are possible both today and tomorrow.

In fact, there is a possibility of waterlogging, inundation, traffic chaos. There may be some rail as well as air traffic chaos as well, resulting in some delays due to intense rains. Office commuters may also experience inconvenience due to commutation issues.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to the activation of the offshore trough. Along with this, the low pressure area is also in the central region which has resulted in a lot of convergence in proximity of Mumbai which will further course and enhancement in the rainfall activity.

So far, Mumbai has already recorded 756 mm of rainfall against the July average of 919 mm which means that there is a possibility that the city may surpass the monthly rainfall in the next couple of days itself.
