Nashik records heavy Monsoon rains of 59 mm, more showers expected

Monsoon rains in Nashik have been on the lesser side during the past few days. So much so that the city has been only witnessing light rains during the last three to four days. Before that, the city of Nashik remained as dry as a bone with no rains.

As no weather system was active over the region, rainfall activity had taken a backseat resulting in less rains over the city. However, during the last 24 hours, rains have increased over many parts of the West Coast.

In fact, Nashik recorded a whopping 59 mm of rainfall in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am. Other parts of Maharashtra including Pune 3 mm, Alibag 2 mm, Ratnagiri 27 mm, and Kolhapur 15 mm witnessed light to moderate showers.

These weather conditions have been attributed to the presence of an off shore trough along the West Coast along with a cyclonic circulation over the Gujarat region. Due to this, good rains are likely to continue along the West Coast for at least the next 24 to 48 hours.
