Northern Mountain States To Observe Pleasant Weather This Week

August 29, 2023 4:15 PM |

Mountain states of North India have been battered out of shape, this monsoon season. Himachal Pradesh has been the worst hit and the state of Uttrakhand also witnessing stray incidents of bad weather. The weather is likely to behave during this week and monsoon activity will be subdued or normal at best.  Mountains are always suspicious for quick weather development but inclement weather activity is unlikely during this week.

The monsoon trough has shifted far to the north, not discernible even along the foothills in the lower levels of the atmosphere. Also, no active western disturbance is passing through the area in the next 3-4 days.  The mild westerly system may arrive on 03rd September but quickly vacate by 05thmorning. Good weather conditions are likely to prevail during the week.  Scattered moderate showers are likely on 3rd September.

Monsoon circulation is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on 2nd/3rd Sep. This will drag the eastern end of the monsoon trough southward. Wind pattern will change to easterly along the foothills, over Indo Gangetic plains. The western end of the monsoon trough will run close to the foothills, remaining north of its normal position.  The western disturbance will move across the mountain states on the 3rd and 4th of September. Under the combined influence of the monsoon trough and westerly system, scattered rain/ thundershowers will take place on 3rd September. Remnant effect will be observed on 4thSep, as well, but with reduced intensity and spread. Weather conditions will improve significantly from 05th September onward and last for at least the next 5 days or so.
