Pleasant days ahead in Delhi; rain to increase over northeast India

September 2, 2013 12:10 PM |

With the setting in of the northwesterly winds over north India, the weather in Delhi and remaining parts of northwest India is expected to turn pleasant in a few days. The morning and the evening hours in Delhi will be less warm and humid to bring relief. Though, afternoon hours will be a bit warm.

West Rajasthan may still have to feel the heat as temperatures are expected to remain near 40 degrees with almost no chance of rain during the next few days. Hills of northwest India over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may have light rain as the axis of monsoon trough lies in the foothills of Himalayas.

Meanwhile, rain is expected to continue over east India over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand during the next 24 to 48 hours. The cyclonic circulation persists over Bihar and adjoining areas but due to its weakening, rain will decrease after this period. Northeast states will see increase in rain, especially foothills of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will get moderate to heavy rain at a few places during the next two days.

Rain will also remain subdued over central India over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada as there is no weather system in the offing.

In south Peninsula, a wind discontinuity has formed over south of Telangana as winds from the east and west coast are colliding to bring some rain over Kerala and adjoining areas of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
