Delhi smog that has been bothering the residents of the National Capital and its adjoining regions has started to show some improvement now. Thus, the smoggy weather that halted people from taking their morning walks and other outdoor activities can now take a sigh of relief.
The tags such as #smogindelhi and #Breathbydeath that trended on Twitter for almost the last 4-5 days are now nowhere to be seen. All thanks to the change of wind speed that took place. Initially, the wind flow was mild and calm northwesterly that carried the pollutants from the adjoining states of Punjab and Haryana where stubble burning was being practiced in a majority.
Being light in nature, these winds were not capable of lifting the pollutants that it carried from the nearby states and thus the pollutants prevailed thus leading to a blanket of dense smog over Delhi and NCR.
However, the wind speed picked up the pace in the last 24 hours due to which, the pollutants from the atmosphere lifted resulting in the somewhat clear sky. With this, the visibility levels also improved.

As per the weatherman at Skymet Weather, now the situation over Delhi and its adjoining Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad are expected to remain improved. The weather is likely to remain comfortable during the afternoon hours due to temperatures rising and reduction in smog levels. However, due to the rise in humidity levels during the morning and night hours, the mild smoggy weather will continue to persist.
Further, with an approach of a fresh Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayan region, light to moderate rains are also anticipated to occur between November 14 to 16 in parts of Punjab and Haryana. With this, the city can brace for a partly cloudy to cloudy weather, light rains are also expected in Delhi around November 15. Due to these light spells, pollution levels will further improve.
The Western Disturbance will also result in snowfall in some parts of the hilly region of North India. This will further bring down the temperatures resulting in cool weather to persist.
