Cloudy day with frequent spells of rain in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar dayUpdated on May 26: On and off pre-Monsoon showers are likely to continue or another 24 hours in Bhubaneswar owing to the trough running from Gangetic West Bengal upto Odisha. Scattered rain and thundershowers are likely over coastal parts of Odisha and West Bengal and Bhubaneswar is one of the cities that will savour the flavour of pre-Monsoon.

In last 24 hours, the city has received close to 10 mm of rain. According to Skymet Weather, light rain and thundershowers will be accompanied by with squally winds ranging between 50 kmph and 80 kmph. 

Updated on May 25: A cyclonic circulation is present over North Bay of Bengal and a trough from this system is extending upto coastal Odisha. Owing to this, pre-Monsoon rains have made a comeback over Bhubaneswar and other parts of coastal Odisha.

Bhubaneswar has been witnessing thundershower since morning due to which visibility dropped to 500 meters for few hours.

Similar weather conditions are likely to persist for next two days as the trough is expected to persist over coastal parts of Odisha. The humid winds from Bay of Bengal will continue to infuse moisture and along with high temperature would lead to light to moderate rain.

May has relatively been dry for Bhubaneswar so far with only two occasions when the city received 32 mm rain on May 20 and 10 mm on 23 May. Light rain today and for another two days is likely to keep pleasant weather in the city.

Light rain and thundershowers at a few places are likely over Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Khordha districts of Odisha during the next few hours.
