Punjab, Haryana, Delhi gear up for good Monsoon rains

July 22, 2016 4:47 PM |

Rain in North IndiaAs reiterated by Skymet Weather, a good spell of Monsoon rains is approaching plains of North India during the next 24 to 48 hours.

These rains can be attributed to the oscillation of the axis of Monsoon trough that has been running along the foothills of Himalayas for the last few days. Due to this wind pattern had also changed from easterlies to north-westerlies.

But now, a cyclonic circulation is likely to move over central parts of Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Southwest Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan. This system will pull the western arm of Monsoon trough downwards during the next 24 hours and will start moving through Punjab, Haryana and Delhi-NCR.

With this, humid easterly winds will once again start flowing over the region. Weathermen predict, light rains will start making an appearance over the region from Friday night only. The intensity of rains will increase gradually over the northern plains including North Rajasthan Saturday onwards and light to moderate rains will occur over many parts. Heavy spells are also expected during this time.

This will be a prolonged rainy spell wherein on and off Monsoon showers will continue throughout the next week.

In wake of this, the maximum and minimum temperatures will register a substantial drop, paving way for pleasant weather conditions once again. However, high levels of humidity will continue to create discomfort.
