Rain in East IndiaAfter remaining dry for the last few days, East India is expected to witness a good rainy spell in coming days. This will be a three-day long wet spell starting from January 18.

According to Skymet Weather, the confluence zone that is likely to develop over Central India will be responsible for the weather activity.

The two opposing winds, dry and cold northwesterly winds from northern region and moist southwesterlies from Bay of Bengal, will result in the confluence zone. This weather phenomenon will result in rain over the region.

After giving rain over Central India, the weather system will gradually shift towards East India. By January 18 evening, light to moderate will begin over parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and northern parts of West Bengal till January 19.

Thereafter, intensity of rain will start reducing over East Uttar Pradesh but most parts of West Bengal and Odisha will start receiving rain by January 20. And by the evening of January 21, there will be a significant decrease in rain activity from East India. However, isolated light rain will still continue over parts of Jharkhand and West Bengal. Subsequently, weather will go completely dry by January 22.

The rain activity will infuse lots of humidity in the atmosphere. This will lead to dense to very dense fog over several parts of East India after the rainy spell comes to an end.
