Rain and thundershowers to occur over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and East Uttar Pradesh

Parts of Bihar and West Bengal have been receiving scattered light to moderate pre-monsoon rain and thundershower activities. A trough is extending from west Uttar Pradesh to Gangetic West Bengal across east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and North Bihar Jharkhand. Humid winds from Bay of Bengal are reaching over the region.

Rain may cover some more parts of Bihar and Jharkhand as well as parts of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and Eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh. Ongoing heat wave conditions over Bihar and Jharkhand will abate. There may be isolated heavy spells over southeast Jharkhand and other parts of Orissa on May 3rd and 4th. Thunderstorm with lightning strikes are also possible over many parts of Jharkhand, Bihar and North Odisha.

Between March 1 and April 30 Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand remained large range efficient with 91% rain deficiency each. Bihar was deficient why 56% and Odisha by 76%. These upcoming rain activities may improve the rain statistics of these States. Pre monsoon rain and thunder shower activities are expected to continue on and off throughout the month of May over eastern and Northeastern part of the country. Temperatures are expected to remain near normal or marginally below normal during Mein over these States.
