Rain in Cuddalore, Kodaikanal, Coimbatore, Chennai for next 24 hours

The state of Tamil Nadu has been seeing good rainfall activity for quite some time now. Moreover, weather conditions have also been in the comfortable range due to continuous rains over the state. The last 24 hours also saw good rainfall activity with light to moderate showers in many pockets of the state. In fact, isolated places also saw heavy rains.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Kodaikanal recorded 39 mm of rains, Coimbatore witnessed 29 mm of rainfall, Ooty 19 mm, Cuddalore 23 mm, Chennai’s Minambakkam observatory recorded a good 15 mm of rains, Atiramapattinam 18 mm, Kanyakumari 19 mm, Palayankottai 5 mm, and Madurai 2 mm.

A Cyclonic Circulation lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal off South Tamil Nadu Coast. Due to this, light to moderate rains are expected over most parts of the state during the next 24 hours. Cities of Chennai, Cuddalore, Karaikal, Nagapattinam, Rameswaram, Kodaikanal, Ooty, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari saw good showers.

Thereafter, rainfall activity will reduce over the interior areas and some parts of coastal regions including Chennai as a cyclonic circulation is weakening and moving east southeastwards. In fact, rains will decrease over northern parts, but south coastal regions will see light to moderate rains during the next 48 hours.

Between October 23 and 24, dry weather is expected over most parts of the state. However, again around October 25, light rains are likely over some areas.
