Rain in Chennai, parts of Tamil Nadu to continue for some time

The state of Tamil Nadu is receiving rains since the last many days. However, during the last 24 hours, rainfall activity reduced over the state and mostly light rains were recorded.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Coonoor recorded 60 mm of rain, followed by Madurai 48 mm, Thanjavur 17 mm, Ooty 16 mm, Kodaikanal and Chennai 11 mm.

The cyclonic circulation lies over central parts of South Bay of Bengal. This system would be moving west/northwestwards and intensifying into a low-pressure area during the next 24 to 36 hours.

As this system would be approaching, the rain intensity over Tamil Nadu is also expected to increase. Moderate rain and thundershower activity with strong winds will occur over many places of the state.

In fact, few coastal stations of Tamil Nadu may also receive heavy spells. Lightning strike would affect a few parts.

However, during the next 24 hours, the weather conditions in most parts of Tamil Nadu will be warm and humid. Thereafter, rain and thundershower will start from the southeastern parts of Tamil Nadu. Further as time progresses the rains will also keep on increasing.

Significant fall in day temperatures is expected on November 7 and 8.
