The northeastern states of Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram and South Assam received light to moderate rains with few heavy showers during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed over rest of the northeastern states along with Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Lengpui recorded 62 mm of rain, followed by Kailashahar 59 mm, Silchar 46.2 mm, Aizwal 30 mm, Imphal 4.2 mm, Kohima 1.2 mm and Cherrapunji 0.6 mm.
As an upper air trough is persisting and extending from Tamil Nadu Coast to Odisha Coast. Simultaneously an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over South Assam and adjoining region in the lower levels.
Due to presence of all these systems, warm and moist winds are affecting over the northeastern states of India. Hence, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities with strong winds will occur over many places in Northeast India.
During the next 24 hours, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, South Assam will receive heavy rains in few pockets. Meanwhile, Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Lower Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya will receive light rains over few places during the same time period.
