Rains over Agartala, Gangtok, Kohima and Itanagar to continue for next 24 hours

A Cyclonic Circulation is currently over East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, while a trough is extending from Tripura to Andhra Pradesh coast across Bangladesh. These weather systems in the the last 24 hours from 8:30 am Monday have given widespread rain over North Lakhimpur, Itanagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Majbat, Agartala, Jorhat, Kohima and Gangtok. Light rains were seen in Shillong and Guwahati. Some places were also hit by lightning strikes.

According to weathermen at Skymet, light to moderate weather activity with chances of lightening strikes will be observed in the region for the next 24 hours. Isolated squally winds might also occur over some places. Thereafter, rainfall in the region will reduce in intensity. Though some places will continue to witness light to moderate rain and thundershower for the next 48 hours. The remaining parts of Assam will witness partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain.

Weather In Arunachal Pradesh

The state of Meghalaya too would witness identical weather conditions. All this can be tagged under pre-monsoon activity which normally occurs during late afternoon and evening hours or at times during early morning hours.

These pre-monsoon activities are for short duration but are intense in nature. Day temperatures would remain comfortable for the coming 48 hours and a marginal drop in morning temperature can be noticed.
