Rains to remain on the back seat over North India aiding the recovery process in Himachal

August 18, 2023 5:16 PM |

Himachal Pradesh has observed some damaging and devastating weather conditions which has resulted in massive chaos across the state. Due to landslides and intense rains, at least 74 people have lost their lives in the state wherein the chief minister is declaring the episode to be a state calamity.

However, the good news is that for the last two days, there have been no inclement weather conditions which have been helpful in the recovery and rehabilitation process in the state. For the next three days, whatever recovery operations are to be taken place, weather conditions will facilitate them as no intense rainfall activity is expected. Isolated activity will continue but nothing intense is likely and the weather will hold for recovery operations.

The Plains of Punjab and Haryana may see some isolated activities, particularly around the foothills. In view of the Low-pressure area, which has formed over the Bay and moving inland, it may cause a change in the Monsoon trough which is running closer to foothills, north of its normal position.

Thus, after August 22, we can see an uptick in weather activity along the foothills of Punjab and Haryana. Even the monsoon trough will cause rains in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. More so after the 24th, these showers may not be as intense as the previous spell but we do expect some weather.
