The state of Madhya Pradesh received moderate to heavy rainfall during the course of the month of July. In fact, these heavy showers caused flash floods in most parts of Madhya Pradesh, throwing life out of gear.

Nonetheless, tables have turned in the last two to three days, when rains remained on the lower side over the state. As a matter of fact, only isolated rain activities was witnessed over the state during the last 24 hours wherein Satna saw 5 mm, Gwalior 2 mm and Rewa a mere of 1 mm.
Hence, we could say that more or less dry weather conditions over Madhya Pradesh have endured.
The reason for this weather situation could be ascribed to the northward shift of the axis of Monsoon trough and the low pressure area that was over Madhya Pradesh last week has moved away.
In consequence to the present day situation, we are not anticipating the axis of Monsoon trough to move for at least the next two to three days. However, a cyclonic circulation over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas may give light to moderate rain over north as well as eastern districts of the state for at least the next 24 hours. At this time, places like Tikamgarh, Rewa and Satna would observe the rain spell, whereas remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh would see isolated rains.
After the period of 24 hours, the weather over the entire state will go dry and we do not anticipate revival of rains over Madhya Pradesh at least till August 6.
As on July 29, the state of Madhya Pradesh as a whole is rain surplus by 9%, whereas division-wise, West Madhya Pradesh received surplus rains to the tune of 15% and East Madhya Pradesh by 2%.
