Rainy Spell For Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha : Hailstorm Likely

March 23, 2023 2:27 PM |

Central parts of the country are likely to have yet another wet spell.  Vidarbha, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh and Odisha are expected to have rain and thundershowers between the 24th and 26th of March.  Hailstorm activity is quite likely at a few places.  Lightning and thunderstorm, accompanied with gusty winds are likely during this period.

There are multiple weather systems responsible for this activity. A western disturbance with its induced circulation is coming up over northern plains. Later, the circulation is shifting over southern parts of Madhya Pradesh and northern region of Maharashtra. This is joined by a north-south trough running across central parts of Peninsula.  Another system as an anticyclone is getting positioned over Bay of Bengal, off South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coast. This system is fuelling moist recurving winds, strengthening persisting cyclonic circulation. Under the combined influence of these developments, rain and thundershowers are likely over central parts.

Weather activity will be isolated and mild in the late hours on 24th March.  Intensity and spread will increase on 25th March, covering East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Chhattisgarh. Next day, similar weather conditions will prevail over Odisha as well. Isolated activity may also extend to northern parts of Telangana.  The intense weather activity will shrink and become weak on 27th March. However, this break may not last long.  Many parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha may have another round lasting till the fag end of the month.
