June 28, 2023 2:09 PM |

As on June 27, Gujarat is a rain surplus by 75%. Saurashtra and Kutch is surplus by 170% and the Gujarat region is deficient by 8%. June is not one of the rainiest months for the state as the monsoon reaches the Southern parts of Gujarat by June 20 and up to central Gujarat by June 25th. Monsoon will cover the entire Gujarat by June 30.

The cyclonic storm Biparjoy has given heavy to hefty downpour over Gujarat between June 13 and 17. Rain activities have once again increased over the state in the last few days. A cyclonic circulation is over the Northeast Arabian Sea off the Gujarat coast. Surat, Valsad and Mahua in south Gujarat recorded heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours. Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Keshod and Nakiya received moderate rain.

We expect moderate to heavy rain with one or two very heavy spells to occur over the Gujarat region during the next 4 to 5 days. Saurashtra and Kutch may also witness light to moderate rain in many places.

Rain may subside after July 5th but isolated to scattered rain may continue over Southern districts of the state.
