May 6, 2023 3:46 PM |

Bengaluru has been receiving rain since May 1st. In fact, 40 mm rain was recorded on May 5th and light rain during last 24 hours. During the first six days of May, the city has already clocked 107.8 mm of rain against the monthly average of 128.7 mm.

At present a cyclonic circulation is over the Southwest Bay of Bengal near the Tamil Nadu coast and another cyclonic circulation is over interior parts of Karnataka at lower levels. A North-South trough is also extending up to south interior Karnataka. The probability of light to moderate rain is very high over south Karnataka during the next week. One or two intense spells of rain and thundershowers cannot be ruled out.

There is a bright chance for Bengaluru to surpass its monthly average in the first half of May itself. Weather is expected to remain comfortable as the maximum temperatures will be in the range of 28 and 30 degrees and a minimum over will be 21 and 22°. Many other districts of south Karnataka may also witness a decent amount of rain for at least the next 3 to 4 days. The monsoon onset date is June 1st over Kerala, and it covers Bengaluru by June 5th.
