The state of Assam has been reeling under flood conditions which has affected at least nine districts in the state along with which 34000 people have been affected. Water levels in the Brahmaputra River as well as its tributaries have been rising.

During the last 24 hours, heavy rains have been witnessed in Northeast India including Assam wherein Majbat saw 74 mm of rain, Pasighat 96 mm, Goalpara 56 mm, Guwahati 34 mm, North Lakhimpur 43 mm.

During the next 48 hours, western parts of Assam including Goalpara, Majbat, and other regions will see some heavy rainfall activity. After that, some relief is in sight.

A Cyclonic Circulation is going to form around June 23 in the Bay of Bengal. A Low Pressure Area is expected to form around the same area on June 24. With this, the wind pattern will be altered and easterlies will start to blow over the region, resulting in relatively good weather and reduction of rains significantly.

Thereafter, we can expect light rains, mostly during the night and heavy rains will be far away.
