BIhar Floods 3

People in Bihar were longing for rains since last many days as the weather was running dry over the state for quite a long time. Now, a good spell of rains is expected over the state for the next two to three days.

At present strong humid winds are feeding moisture over East India including the state of Bihar. An East-West Trough is extending from southern parts of Uttar Pradesh to Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Under the effect of these systems, we expect light to moderate rains over many places in Bihar during the next two to three days. Also, moderate to heavy rains are likely at a few places.

These rains may be heavy at places leading to waterlogging and rise in water level in a few tributaries of Ganga river such as Kosi and Gandak. Foothills of Nepal may also get heavy showers leading to localized flooding. Therefore, people living in low lying areas are advised to exercise caution.

At the same time, these upcoming rains will lead to replenishment of water bodies. Soil moisture will once again get intact. Weather is expected to become cool and comfortable during the morning and night hours.

These on and off rains are expected to continue until September 28. Thereafter as well, certain districts of Bihar like Nevada, Bhojpur etc might continue to get on and off light spells.
