Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat to witness heatwave like conditions

As most parts of the country are witnessing decent pre-Monsoon showers, West India is observing clear weather conditions. This clear weather condition has made sure that the mercury to rise over the region vividly. With such hot weather in place, is will be safe to say that summers have made an early visit to the region.

At present, minimum temperatures over most parts of Gujarat such as Saurashtra and Kutch is above normal by 2-3 degree Celsius. Whereas the maximum temperatures are hovering in the higher 30°Cs. This has resulted in extreme discomfort in weather over the region.

Such change in weather is due to the change of wind direction from westerly to northerly-northeasterly winds. An anti-cyclone is likely to set up in the west of Rajasthan bringing dry and warm winds over the region.

In the span of 24 hours from 08:30am on Friday the maximum temperatures recorded over various station of Gujarat are: Ahmedabad 35.9°C, Bhavnagar 35°C, Baroda 35.8°C, Bhuj 36.8°C, Porbandar 35.8°C, Rajkot 37.3°C and Surat recorded 35.2°C.

Such high levels of mercury can be expected to go on for next 48 hours. Thereafter the temperatures may see a gradual drop but the minimum temperatures are expected to rise, hinting at a strong and heat laden summer season.
