July 26, 2016 5:02 PM |

MP rainMadhya Pradesh has been one of the rainiest pockets during the ongoing Southwest Monsoon season. Moderate to heavy showers have been lashing the central state of India at regular intervals ever since the beginning of July.

Last 24 hours have been no different, with several parts recording widespread rainfall of varying intensity. Betul has recorded 23.2 mm of rain in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, followed by Bhopal 11 mm, Guna 20 mm, Pachmarhi 13 mm, Seoni 11 mm, Khandwa 6 mm, and Umaria 5.8 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation that was prevailing over West Rajasthan and adjoining Rajasthan. Further, the system will continue to prevail over the region and moderate to heavy showers will continue over West Madhya Pradesh, while eastern parts will witness light to moderate rains for the next 24 hours.

Thereafter, the system will move in northwest direction. With this, rains will reduce significantly over the state but North Madhya Pradesh will still receive some rains.

At present, Madhya Pradesh is witnessing high surplus rainfall. As on July 25, East Madhya Pradesh is excess by 46%, while West Madhya Pradesh is surplus by 43%.
