Monsoon follows the LIFO rule for Rajasthan which means last to enter in and first to vacate the region. Thus, staying in the region for even less than two months makes it the leanest pocket of the country during Southwest Monsoon season. Amongst the entire state, West Rajasthan is the division which receives the least rains during the entire season.

However, this year Monsoon arrived in the state before time and has performed satisfactorily in the month of June which ended on a surplus note. Both the subdivisions, East and West Rajasthan recorded 60% excess rains by the end of the month.

The month of July has also performed well so far both in terms of the spread and intensity of rains. In fact, a few locations even underwent through flooding situations. Though the initial days of July were poor and consumed some of the surplus amount that June has earned.

As of today also, both the divisions, West Rajasthan and East Rajasthan are rain surplus by 27% and 32% respectively. In the last 24 hours also, the state recorded some moderate to heavy spells. However, unlike the past rainy episodes, East Rajasthan recorded more showers than its western counterpart.

As of now, Skymet Weather expects some more rains to continue over the state for the next 24 hours. However, once again the rain would remain confined to East and North Rajasthan, meanwhile, West Rajasthan would remain dry. Cities such as Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bundi, Alwar, and Pilani are likely to get these showers.

But overall, the state can expect a slight reduction in the rains though the last two days would be rainy and thus the month may end on a surplus note.
