Except for North Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha, Monsoon continued to remain subdued in other meteorological divisions of Maharashtra during the last 24 hours. The rainfall activities are expected to decrease further and remain on the lower side only until August 28 in most parts of the state. The Monsoon revival is likely around August 29, wherein some moderate to heavy showers would return over the state. Mumbai rains would also increase by this time. Likewise, rain in Pune may pick up some pace.
Moderate rains have been recorded in parts of Vidarbha, while light to moderate rains with a few heavy spells made an appearance over North Madhya Maharashtra within the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, scattered rains lashed Konkan and Goa, while isolated light rains were reported in Marathwada.
Talking about the rainfall data, in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Jalgaon received 67 mm of rainfall, followed by Wardha 17 mm, Gondia 16 mm, Buldana, Malegaon and Washim 12 mm each and Akola 11 mm of rainfall.
According to our meteorologists, scattered rains may continue in North Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan and Goa until August 28. However, Monsoon would remain subdued in other meteorological divisions of Maharashtra.
The Southwest Monsoon is expected to revive once again around August 29, wherein moderate spells with few heavy spells would reappear over Konkan and Goa. During that time, Mumbai rains would also increase and occur with moderate intensity. One or two short intense spells are also likely, however, these would not be as heavy as to disrupt normal life.
In the wake of these rains, the weather would become pleasant and relief is likely from ongoing warm and humid weather conditions. The city of Pune would experience light rains with one or two moderate spells between August 29 and 31. Likewise, the eastern districts of Vidarbha would witness a few moderate spells in the wake of a Low-Pressure Area over the Bay of Bengal.
